Ms. Gowree Gokhale, is a senior partner who heads the IP, Technology, Media and Entertainment law practice of the multi-skilled, research-based international law firm, Nishith Desai Associates.
Her specializations include IP, TMT laws, gaming, commercial laws, strategic M&As and cross-border dispute resolution and pharma and life sciences laws.
Ms. Gokhale regularly advises clients on IP management and protection strategy and has led several IP and technology related matters. She is also involved in devising IP litigation strategies for clients and has lead several IP litigations before different forums in India.
She has advised several Indian and foreign gaming companies on variety of issues, including general gaming laws in India, IP issues, setting of India operations, payment solutions for gaming businesses (including virtual currency), mobile and internet gaming related laws, tax issues, data protection and privacy issues.
She has assisted several international media production houses and pharmaceutical companies in structuring of their India operations, including IP structuring, and advice on regulatory issues. She has spearheaded several IP centric M & A transactions, especially in the pharma, IT and media & entertainment space. Her specialization also includes structuring of cross border outsourcing and franchising arrangements and advising Indian and MNC clients on the Indian data privacy laws.
Ms. Gokhale has been practicing for last over 20 years. She is a Solicitor and a registered Patent & Trade Mark attorney. She is also a member of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and International Masters of Gaming Law (IMGL) and a mentor and advisor at ZoneStartups India.
She was a visiting faculty at the Institute of Intellectual Property Law Studies at Mumbai. Ms. Gokhale has authored research reports and articles on variety of IP centric subjects and has presented at various national and international seminars and conferences on IP, pharmaceutical, media and technology laws.
